BREAKDOWN PALACE
MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL, WHO'S ABSURDEST OF THEM ALL
History meets fantasy. This design showcases an absurd, infinite upward spiral of elephants and turtles, inspired by ancient Eastern and Asian culture.
In ancient chess between the 6th until the 16th Centuries AD, elephants were fairy pieces that could jump two squares diagonally and at right angles. Some ancient Asian myths also narrated the world as resting on the back of a endless regression of elephants and turtles.
This print explores by the absurdity of time and place including the joyful, creative and often generatively chaotic interplay between cultures.
History and fantasy.
