"When I became a mother, I became very interested in how my body was seen by society." Author and journalist Alev Scott has written the book many women didn't know we needed. Cash Cow is a bold, meticulously-researched investigation into the global commodification of motherhood. I promise: it's impossible to put down. It started with an oversupply of breast milk. When Alev Scott had her first child she wanted to donate her excess milk to a hospital milk bank, a generous, straightforward impulse. But while researching how to do it, she stumbled onto something she hadn't expected: a thriving commercial online market for breast milk, with strangers — many of them men! — willing to pay for it. Shocked and...
Celebrating true bestie love with Sarah and Rachel 💞
This Galentine's we invited our lovely Paradisefold Insiders to nominate a bestie love for going above and beyond. We heard your beautiful stories and invited one pair to a day of pampering and fun! Sarah and Rachel are sisters who love each other dearly, and this year, they were together when disaster struck! During an expedition in Marrakesh to celebrate her 50th Birthday, Sarah had a freak accident. Rachel's instinctive response was to risk her own wellbeing to help her sister. Each change felt different, even daunting at times, but every step built on the last - giving her skills, perspective, and confidence for what came next. Her advice is simple: if you’re unhappy, do something about it. Say yes to opportunities, even when they feel scary, and trust that the connections between your experiences will...
"Follow your gut - you only get one go”
If you've been with us for a while, you'll know that our team's mission is to help women flourish; specifically, it's the pursuit of eudaemonia. Eudaemonia is an ancient Greek concept which captures something like exercising our soul towards flourishing, joy, excellence. The philosopher Aristotle described this as the highest form of human good.
Where does this leave us today? Unlike the ancient Greeks, in our contemporary society January tends to be filled with promises, goals, resolutions - all before we’ve had a chance to breathe. So this year, we’re doing things differently.
