"It helps me handle anxiety-filled moments..."

Mind Matters: finding calm this Mental Health Awareness Month

We all experience feelings of anxiousness and overwhelm. For some of us, these moments are fleeting, but for many anxiety isn't just a mood; it’s something that tags along even when we’re doing things we enjoy and are with loved ones. And for many of us busy women with a long to-do list for ourselves, families and colleagues, focussing on ourselves can often take a back seat.

So this Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re talking about the small acts we can do to keep us grounded. Flourishing isn't about being productive or "on" 24/7. It’s about cultivating personal moments that help nourish our soul, so we can better pursue our goals. Whether that’s getting better at saying ‘no’, leaning on our besties, or giving ourselves permission to take time out, small actions like these can make a world of difference to our mind, mood and resilience.

This month we’re sharing some stories and resources that can help. First, Matilda tells us about her flight anxiety...which her work in international development forces her to confront regularly! She tells us how she uses her favourite Paradisefold Cloud as her literal "safety net" for those high-stress moments in the air. By pairing the super soft silk with a guided meditation, she creates a little private sanctuary, no matter how bumpy the ride gets. It’s such a beautiful reminder that a bit of comfort can go a long way.

And to take you all the way into pure selfless relaxation, we’re also sharing a breathwork session we hosted with dancer, model and coach, Aicha McKenzie. We’re including the full session, but also short 1 and 5-minute snippets to help you slot this into your free time.
