May is Mental Health Awareness Month and April was Stress Awareness Month, so we took a moment to slow down and reconnect. Our founder Andrea had the chance to speak with Aicha, a certified breath coach and founder of BreatheByAMCK, who’s on a mission to make breathwork more accessible for everyday life.
Aicha reminded us that stress isn’t always just about what’s going on - it’s about how our bodies respond. Our nervous system holds on to more than we realise. But the good news? Even a few minutes of intentional breathing can create real shifts - easing anxiety, calming the mind, and helping us feel more present.
From overloaded inboxes and tight deadlines to social expectations and the pressure to “always be on,” modern life keeps us in a constant state of low-grade stress, which impacts our mental health. Aicha shared how often, it’s not the situation itself, but the narratives we start to believe - like “I’m behind” or “I’m not doing enough” - that trigger our stress response. Breathwork helps quiet that inner noise. It gives us the space to check in with our bodies, slow down the racing thoughts, and notice where tension lives.
As part of April’s focus, we hosted a breathwork session in London with Aicha. And while many of you couldn’t make it in person, we’ll be sharing the session online this week so you can follow along from wherever you are.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re inviting you to pause. Breathe. And remember - caring for your mind starts with noticing what your body is trying to say.
