Making Flourishing Moves

If you've been with us for a while, you'll know that our team's mission is to help women  flourish; specifically, it's the pursuit of eudaemonia. Eudaemonia is an ancient Greek concept which captures something like exercising our soul towards flourishing, joy, excellence. The philosopher Aristotle described this as the highest form of human good.

Where does this leave us today? Unlike the ancient Greeks, in our contemporary society January tends to be filled with promises, goals, resolutions - all before we’ve had a chance to breathe. So this year, we’re doing things differently.

We’re starting with purposive action. Not the Pinterest-perfect kind nor the pressure-filled version, but the kind of action that focusses on our flourishing - so that we can live more fulfilled lives that match up with our values. Taking action doesn’t mean doing more, in fact it's often the smallest steps that can make the most consequential impact. Because when intention is clear, action follows naturally.

So this month at Paradisefold we’re speaking to women in our community who've made big and small moves in their careers and personal lives to understand their path, be inspired, and learn from them.

Today, we're meeting Jyoti Patel. Jyoti who left her “big, shiny” corporate role to fully pursue her creative career and then published an award-winning debut novel, The Things That We Lost, with Penguin Random House. It was scary: single, with bills, no full backup plan - she trusted herself and took the steps she needed to make a big difference in her life.

Listen at the link to learn how she made this happen.

Big hugs from the team,

Paradisefold xx
